Dynamic Closures has been making eco-friendly changes to its building, processes and material use for over 15 years, and we can confidently say we’re environmentally friendly:
We recycle our aluminum scraps, filings, and even dust (thanks to a specialized filtration system on our shop vacuums).
- Our doors are fully recyclable when they’re no longer needed.
- We use mostly recycled cardboard and paper in our door packaging - no styrofoam. The only non-recyclables are a few plastic straps.
- We’ve developed innovative designs that use less materials and still manage to be a stronger, better door.
You can read more about our facility’s energy use improvements on our Environmental Approach page.
It’s amazing how often pursuing eco-friendly policies can also make sense for a business’ bottom line. What’s the connection? Efficiency. When it comes to material resources, recycling makes great sense environmentally and financially. This also benefits you: we’re able to offer our doors at a lower price point.
Our security grilles are only a very small part of a commercial space project, but you’ll be glad to know that it won’t interfere with your bid for LEED accreditation. In a small way, it can even help.
LEED Certification Documentation Available
LEED isn’t just for homes, it’s also for commercial spaces. Even some shopping malls are doing LEED certified upgrades.
How does something like a simple security gate help your projects attain LEED certification?
- Resource reuse credits for the steel parts.
- We use anodized coatings (if at all) so there are no VOCs or other harmful emissions.
Some models are more open than others, allowing for more free circulation of air and ensuring your HVAC system is just as efficient in reality as it is on paper.
If you’re designing a space that you’d like to submit for LEED certification, we’d be happy to help produce a bill of materials with the full breakdown of post-industrial versus post-consumer content for both the steel parts (unfortunately aluminum is not post consumer because it produces visual patterning that clients don’t like). We also can help you qualify for local/regional origin of materials points by providing exact latitude and longitude.
A LEED-Friendly Part of Your Commercial Space Project
Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) certification is not easy to obtain, but for committed clients who are prepared to invest in the insulating materials and energy efficient building design, the rewards can be many.
