Details: Blocking Headers for Curves

Blocking headers for curves is a simple procedure. Follow these four steps to block your header for a 90 degree curve. Note that the radius distance referred to is the radius of the curve supplied (10 in., 14 in. or 22 in.). This method will work for special radius 90 degree curves also.

1. Chalk line Right Angle (90˚) Intersect Point A.

2. Compass distance of Radius from A to intersect right angle lines B.

  • Compass suggestions: String and Chalk or Pivot tape measure with carpenters pencil.

3. From intersect points B compass Radius distance to intersect each other at point C.

4. From intersect point C compass Radius distance from B to B to form right angle curve D. Now you can plumb the curve up to the header.
